Scented Soy Candles

In the early 90s soy wax was invented by a man called Michael Richards who was looking for an alternative to beeswax. Soy wax is hydrogenated soybean oil which is a cheaper way to produce candle (im comparison to using beeswax) and also a lot more effective. Not only is soy wax all natural and doesn’t submit any C02 into the atmosphere but it also burns 50% slower than paraffin candles.

But other than it being cheaper and more natural there are many other advantages that soy wax has over regular beeswax candles.

soy wax

First off, soy wax is a lot easier to clean up when being spilled on tablecloths or carpets than other wax types. In contrary to other waxes soy wax can be removed using hot water and soap. Also soy wax doesn’t create as much soot while burning (90% less than paraffin candles). It is therefore often preferred in households with children or pets.

Next, since soy wax doesn’t have a very distinct smell itself it can easily be mixed with essential oils to create the exact right mixture for you. A scented soy candle can be bought in almost all imaginable flavors in supermarkets, specialties stores or online.

soy bean candles

Some Americans prefer buying soy bean candles because soy beans are mostly grown in the United States of America. Therefore purchasing these all natural candles supports farmers and their economy. This is another factor that should be considered, when making your choice between regular paraffin candles and the usually a little more expensive scented soy wax candle.

Do you have a creative side in you? Well then soy wax is also perfect to make your very own candles. Since it has a lower melting point than regular wax, it is easier to work with and offers many possibilities to let your creativity loose. For example you can easily mix the wax with fragranced oils to create a subtle nice smell or you can use objects like shells or beads to decorate your candle by putting them inside the wax. Like all other candles you can make them in all forms and shapes. From pillar candles to tea light candles everything is possible. Create your own handmade soy candle and experience all the advantages that come with using soy candles instead of paraffin candles.

Thanks, good information here. One delima with soy candles is that you run out of wick long before you run out of candle. It's no big deal, I guess, because the candles aren't expensive, but I'm a spendthrift and want to use my whole candle. Any tips for getting more mileage out of you candle? In large candles do you think it would work to insert more than one wick?
